Hey everyone. One of our favorite events is coming up in a few months (October 19th-22nd) and we were curious if some of you might like to join us. Alchemy is a regional Burning Man event that takes place locally in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia. (about half an hour southwest of Trapeze). Many of you have likely heard of the main Burning Man that takes place out in Black Rock City, NV. This is one of many regional burns around the world that work off the same principles of that event, yet ours is on a far smaller scale. The big burn has around 80k people that go, our local one is more like 2500.
Alchemy is, for lack of a better way to describe it, a four-day long camping trip with some of the coolest people youve ever met. We have had a theme camp at Alchemy for many years now that usually is made up of a bunch of us from the LS. We dont necessarily engage in or advertise any LS activities there, its just more that most of the people in our camp happen to be in the club. Many of the camps at Alchemy are theme camps. Some have amazing art, some feed people, some play EDM music until the sun comes up. Ours is on the pub crawl where we give away drinks almost the whole time. That brings a lot of people by our tent. Its fun bartending to hippies.
We have a core group that goes every year that are all wonderful. We have all the infrastructure in place at this point a big pavilion tent, we made our own bar (and it looks awesome), we have multiple generators so we can run power to the main tent as well as everyones individual tents, we have a shower, and we handle buying all the food and alcohol.
What we would need from anyone that goes is help with setup and cleanup, cooking whatever you want to eat (other than when we do group meals), bringing your own tent and sleeping items and changes of clothes (lots of people dress in various costumes over the four days), help occasionally manning the bar (which is really fun), volunteering a few hours of your time to help with something at the burn and to learn all the ten principles of the burn and following them to the letter. Since we are on the pub crawl, part of the camp dues go to alcohol and other drinks that we give out, so that handles the gifting requirement. The volunteer portion is really big because this event is run 100 by volunteers. There is no big event company that puts this on. There are no vendors of any kind. It is a communal effort that makes this amazing event happen.
Costs to attend are $225 for the tickets to Alchemy itself and another $150 for the camp dues for food and alcohol. Those costs are per person. If youre interested in attending, lets hop on a phone call to discuss everything first to make sure this is something that you would be a good fit for. Camping isnt everyones cup of tea, but you can glamp it up pretty nicely. Group synergy matters too. No one wants to get stuck for four days with a couple fighting all the time or someone that always is drunk to the point of belligerence. But when the group does gel, I think youll find that this is one of the most fun events youve ever been to.
