Tonight, join us for a Magic: The Gathering Draft Tournament starting at 9 pm. Whether you're a seasoned planeswalker or curious newcomer, we've got space for you at the table, plus more board games on the side.
*This is a casual event, but we ask that those who sign up for the draft please ensure you are committed to staying for the entirety of the event (up to two hours) so as not to disrupt the flow of games and leave others without an opponent.
Event Details: MTG is a card game where players split into pairs or small groups (usually 4, depending on the format) and battle each other for magical domination!

At the club, we've hosted three formats (ways to play the game).

At the club, we've hosted three formats (ways to play the game).

1) DRAFT -- in this format, players are grouped into pods of 4-8 and given three unopened packs each. Players open their first pack, choose a card, then pass the remainder to the next player. This repeats until all cards are selected, and players then open their next pack. Players are allowed to take home the cards they play with.

2) COMMANDER -- players bring their OWN 100-card decks for this. It's a casual format with much longer games, and usually played in groups of 4. Many players who show up at the club for Magic bring decks they share with others who might not have brought their own. Very wholesome.

3) JUMPSTART -- this is the best way to learn the game. The club has a stock of reusable packs from which players select 2. The contents are shuffled together, and that is the deck they play with. Typically played in pairs. Players return the cards they use to the club when finished.

We always have jumpstart cards on hand, so guests who show up empty-handed always have something to play. When we run drafts, spaces are limited for budget reasons, so having Jumpstart as a backup still lets folks who weren't able to get a spot participate in some casual games.

I recommend guests bring decks they might want to use (commander), any relevant supplies like dice and tokens, and a casual, fun-first, mindset :)

Oasis welcomes solo men, solo women, and couples Sunday to Thursday. Fridays and Saturdays are reserved for solo women and couples. Leggi di meno
