The only time as a single guy that I've had or needed to contribute is if we both were using the room and not staying there overnight. Most often times couples have turned me down on paying for drinks and as the couples have felt that I am more of the gift for their wife an that her happiness is nothing to stress about in regards to money.
As for females though I have seen and heard that they often do not pay for anything and expect everything to be paid for them which seems more like an escort more than anything.
